So I wasn't totally honest with y'all in the beginning. I didn't start this blog because I felt like I was called to be a blogger or because I wanted to share my most inner thoughts. I started this blog because I am currently bored with my life. Wow, I'm so glad that's off my chest. I promise not to keep anymore secrets from y'all. So since I'm bored with my life, I've been experimenting with different things lately. I'm not a smoker, but I recently decided to take up smoking for one full week. I'm sure you're asking yourself, what did she smoke? Well, that's the first question that popped into mind as well. What will I smoke? You can smoke just about anything these days, but my mind wandered to a "trippy" time during my sophomore year in college and I knew exactly what I wanted to smoke. I thought I should probably revisit something I've tried a couple of times before. No wait, more like ten times. Ok, ok I lied again. Fifty times is a more accurate ball park. But then I thought, what would the kids at Bayside have to say about this?

So then I decided I'd try smoking cigarettes. I realize some of you are cringing right now, but my mom always says I can't knock something until I try it. She, of course, used that phrase when I was 7 years old and wouldn't eat my broccoli, but you get the idea.
So I walked into the gas station and there are like a million brands to choose from. Camel? Marlboro? Parliament? I said, "Marlboro Lights" with some authority, like I knew what I was talking about. I only chose them because I had heard that name thrown around by some of my friends. At that point, I thought the hard part was already over, and then I looked over to my right to see the lighters. Mannn, seriously? If there were a million cigarette brands, there had to be like a billion different lighters. Do I get the clear one where you can see the lighter fluid? Do I get the one that is black and has the word "PRINCESS" written in pink? Do I get one with the skull on it? So many decisions. I ultimately decided on a plain green lighter. It was more my style.
Fast forward to the bar that night. I surprised myself at how quickly I made friends with fellow smokers. I was one of them in no time. I mimicked the way the held their cigarettes and blew out their smoke. I really wanted to try making smoke rings and other cool things you do with cigarette smoke, but knew they would get suspicious and realize I was an amateur smoker. Drinking and smoking go hand in hand like.....two people holding hands??? (Sorry, I couldn't think of a good analogy).....and I was loving every minute of it.
Fast forward two days later. I decided to test if I was a true smoker, so I lit up mid afternoon. What a MISTAKE. Smoking is one of those things that you should never do sober like eating McDonalds. It was so bad I couldn't even finish one cigarette. I was so bummed. I knew it was the end of the road for my smoking days. I didn't have what it took to be a real smoker.
I had high hopes for smoking, but it didn't quite live up to all the hype. Smoking cluttered my life with more decisions, used up money that could have been better spent on shoes, and made me shiver outside with all the other outcasts smokers. Oh and I'm not really a fan of lung cancer. However, I will look back fondly on this week and I will cherish those moments I spent with my smoker friends. So here's to you smokers of the world. Here's to you.

I probably don't like you.
Things that annoy me:
These are in no specific order and are bulleted for no reason at all.
These are in no specific order and are bulleted for no reason at all.
- Children. All of them. I don't discriminate.
- Delusional people.
- Too many bumper stickers on the back of a car. If you didn't already know, you're a tool.
- PT Cruisers.
- Bad kissers.
- All cyclists.
- Everything that Nickleback sings.
- When your fingers get so cold that it takes you two hours to type one text message.
- Bad drivers. I, of course, am an exceptional driver.
- People who try to one up everything you say.
- Abbrevs. (that is short for "abbreviations")
- Filling in my name in those letter bubbles on scantrons.
- Roseanne reruns.
- Baby talk.
- Fake audience laughter on America's Funniest Home Videos.
- People who sing along/hum to songs that they don't know or half know.
- Folding fitted sheets.
- People who talk to me within the first hour that I'm awake.
- Making small talk with cashiers at the grocery store.

Make up your mind.
There are so many decisions in this world. Paper or plastic. Coke or Pepsi. Should I go to Happy Hour or not (the answer to that is always yes). Jay Leno or Conan O'Brien. Well, I guess that's not a decision we have to make anymore, thanks Big Brother NBC. Dell or Apple. Should I watch that 19th episode of Law and Order or study for my test tomorrow. The list goes on. I'm embarking on a major decision of my own these days. What will I do after I graduate from college? Will I go to grad school and get my CPA like my parents want me to? Will I start working? If I start working, what state will I work in? Will I move out of the country? Should I join the Peace Corps? Or do I actually pursue my dream of being a writer of subtitles for people with accents on VH1? I am frightened, confused, and slightly exhilarated at the endless possibilities. But then I think to myself, what happens if I make one wrong decision? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally a believer of fate and everyone has their destiny, but...nope, wait, scratch that. I'm only a believer in fate when it benefits me. I'm a fair weather fan of fate. Oh, don't give me that look. Don't judge me. You know you are too. I want to find John Cusack's name and number on the back of a five dollar bill just as much as you do. *That was a Serendipity reference for all you romantic comedy lovers* So what do I do? I need help. Sorry for putting my burdens on you, but if I can't tell yall, who can I tell? Well, as much as I'd love to stay and chit chat, I have to go back to emailing off my resume. Oh, and if you were wondering....I'm a paper, Coke, Happy Hour attending, Jay Leno, Dell, Law and Order hating type of girl. Until next time...

It's nice to meet you.
Hello World. I think an introduction is necessary. I am Princess Leia or at least that's what my "blog name" is. I have no idea what a blog name is used for. I'm blog virgin, if you couldn't tell. Now, Star Wars groupies don't get a boner. My blog name has no relation to those sub par movies. I'm not, nor will I ever be, a fan of the trilogy or the seven-logy. I never know how many of those there are. It's like the freaking Land Before Time movies. I was actually given that nickname by an old friend. Quick shoutout to Stuart. Probably the coolest guy I know. But I guess it's really not a nickname if it's longer than your real name. Huh? Weird. I digress...things you should probably know about me before we get intimate are that I am first generation Ethiopian-American and I live in the south. So I'm like a kiwi in a bowl of peanuts. I thoroughly enjoy one hit wonders from the 80's. Not quite sure why. My career aspiration is to be a writer of subtitles for people with accents on VH1, but I'm currently studying Accountancy in college. I could probably eat chicken tacos for the rest of my life, not to be confused with chicken fajitas. Some things that scare me include, but are not limited to, people who date that can be mistaken as siblings and people who run in airports. Like why the fuck are you running? And do I need to be running too? I believe that Milli Vanilli should have kept their Grammy (lip syncing had to be hard with that hair). I'm fickle. I wish there was a font for sarcasm on phones. Green is my favorite color. And I have an unhealthy obsession with Boyz II Men. I don't want to reveal everything about myself just yet, so that should be enough information on the mystery that is Liya for right now. So lean in. Give me a nice, big, welcome hug. But don't linger. I can already see this is the start to a beautiful relationship.
